Luca Nichetto and Kreoo Present Sculptural Sinks at Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-05-20

For Milan Design Week 2026, designer Luca Nichetto collaborated with Italian high-end furniture and surfacing brand Kreoo to unveil two sculptural washbasins, Musina and Posso. The collection reinterprets the traditional Venetian Vera da pozzo (historic wellheads) as contemporary objects where marble, geometry, and water interact architecturally. Musina features a precise geometric design with a circular interior profile contrasting an octagonal exterior, while Posso adopts a more organic, sculptural expression carved directly from natural stone blocks. The pieces were presented at Kreoo's space in Fiera Milano Rho during Salone del Mobile and at Auralis Space during Fuorisalone. Nichetto defines luxury not as exclusivity or ornamentation but as 'the limit of what humanity is capable of doing at a specific moment.' He emphasizes that the true material of the collection is time, rooted in approximately two thousand years of artisanal tradition. Nichetto critiques contemporary design as 'too familiar, too safe' and suggests that artificial intelligence will drive the next expressive language, though design has not yet fully translated that technological shift. The collaboration underscores a balance between technology and craftsmanship, arguing that the future of luxury lies not in the most expensive object but in preserving something deeply human in an increasingly automated world.
