Luca Guadagnino Designs Interiors for Rome’s Palazzo Talìa Hotel

architecture-design · 2026-03-14

Palazzo Talìa, a 16th-century Roman palazzo that once housed the Collegio Nazareno, Rome’s oldest school, has been transformed into a luxury hotel. The Federici family led the restoration, which began in 2021. The interior design of all common spaces, including the restaurant and bar, was entrusted to studiolucaguadagnino, founded in 2017 by filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The studio collaborated with artisans to create site-specific pieces, with color guiding the project. A floral-patterned carpet by Nigel Peake serves as a pathway. The Terrace Suite, the only guest room designed by the studio, features a 66-square-meter terrace with greenery by landscape architect Blu Mambor. The other 25 rooms were designed by Marianna Lubrano Lavadera of Mia Home Design Gallery and architect Laura Feroldi. The hotel’s top floor also houses the headquarters of the Partito Democratico. The project manager Pablo Molezún emphasized the chromatic approach and artisanal collaboration. Elia Federici noted the hotel’s unique character, avoiding standardized luxury.
