Luca Carboni Reveals Visual Art at Bologna Museum

Italian singer Luca Carboni presents his first visual art exhibition, 'Rio Ari O,' at the Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica in Bologna, open from November 22, 2024, to February 9, 2025. Curated by Luca Beatrice, the show spans four rooms plus a wunderkammer, featuring over 50 works including paintings, drawings, sketches, notebooks, and album covers created since the mid-1980s. Carboni describes his painting as a parallel, intimate diary to his music, using diverse techniques and materials such as tempera, acrylics, spray paint, reclaimed wood, iron, cardboard, and wrapping paper. The exhibition reveals his creative process behind twelve studio albums, starting with his 1984 debut. A final room immerses visitors in a sound design with songs, unreleased tracks, and studio audio, accompanied by images and video clips. From January 8, 2025, the show extends to the Portico del Pavaglione on via dell'Archiginnasio. A series of three talks with Carboni and collaborators will take place at the museum on November 28, December 19, and January 16 at 6:30 PM.
