Luca Boffi's First Solo Show at Galleria Fumagalli Blends Photography with Natural Materials
Luca Boffi, known as Alberonero (Lodi, 1991), presents his first solo exhibition at Galleria Fumagalli in Milan. Titled 'Fuori come fiori', the show runs until February 21, 2025, and features tactile, olfactory, and visual works that incorporate natural elements collected from the Po Valley in Campogalliano, near Modena, where the artist lives and works as a farmer. The works consist of photographs on fabric overlaid with carrot flowers, viburnum berries, field thistle, and other materials such as silt from the Secchia River after a flood, poplar wood, cow dung, corn leaves, clay soil, millet, horse shavings, and charcoal, all fixed on panels of uniform size. The exhibition also includes the film 'Pioppo Ciao', a visual diary made with Francesco Tosini as part of the larger project 'Caro Campo', documenting Boffi's symbiotic experience with a field of 290 poplars from December 2019 to April 2021 until their felling. Additionally, the show features images from the environmental installation 'Monochrome RGB', created in partnership with Galleria Fumagalli for the fourth edition of 'Forever Is Now' held from October 24 to November 16, 2024, at the Pyramids of Giza. Boffi emphasizes the importance of narrating the environment through personification rather than solely from a green or climate change perspective, having moved from Milan to Campogalliano to become a farmer after previously working on extraordinary landscapes like volcanoes and rice fields.
