Luca Beatrice to lead external curators at Rome's MAXXI museum
Alessandro Giuli, recently appointed president of the Fondazione MAXXI in Rome, is initiating changes within the museum. He has selected Lorenza Baroncelli to lead the Architecture Department and intends to establish a position for Luca Beatrice (born 1961 in Turin) as the coordinator for external curators, rather than as the head of the Art Department, which is currently under Bartolomeo Pietromarchi until September 30, or as artistic director, a role previously held by Hou Hanru. Beatrice has confirmed he will not vie for the director role. Potential collaborators include Francesca Barbi Marinetti (born 1961 in Naples), Angelo Crespi (born 1968 in Busto Arsizio), and Giorgio Calcara. Official decisions will be made next autumn after reviewing exhibitions from the former Melandri administration.
