Luca Beatrice resigns as president of Circolo dei Lettori in Turin

Luca Beatrice has stepped down as president of Circolo dei Lettori in Turin after eight years, a move requested by the region's majority shareholder, the Piedmont Region, to restructure governance around the Turin Book Fair. Beatrice, who served without pay, oversaw thousands of events, averaging five per day, six days a week, for eleven months a year. The Circolo will now become the organizational arm of the Salone del Libro, with Massimo Bray as president and Nicola Lagioia as artistic director. Beatrice criticized Bray as a career politician who 'wants to be Minister of Culture for any government.' He dismissed claims that Turin is losing key figures, arguing that eight-year terms are healthy. Beatrice plans to focus on curating exhibitions and teaching, which he calls his only connection to reality. He ruled out becoming director of the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti, citing the need for full-time commitment and the building's need for renovation.
