Luca Argentero to Play Leonardo da Vinci in Sky Film 'Io, Leonardo'

The 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death has spurred a rich cultural program throughout 2019, including the film 'Io, Leonardo'. Produced by Sky with Progetto Immagine and distributed by Lucky Red, the film offers an unprecedented perspective on the Renaissance genius. Directed by Jesus Garces Lambert, known for 'Caravaggio – l'anima e il sangue', the film features Luca Argentero in his first biographical art film role as Leonardo. The cast includes Angela Fontana as Cecilia Gallerani and Massimo De Lorenzo as Ludovico il Moro, with narration by Francesco Pannofino. The film received scientific consultancy from Pietro Marani, professor of Modern Art History and Museology at Politecnico di Milano. It has been granted the Patronage of the National Committee for the 500th Anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's Death and the Scientific Committee of the Milano Leonardo 500 Calendar, as well as the Recognition of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. It also received patronage from the municipalities of Florence and Milan. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on September 26, 2019, and will later air on Sky channels.
