Luca Arboccò Wins Second Edition of JaguArt in Turin

The second edition of JaguArt, The Italian Talent Road Show, a collaboration between Artissima and Jaguar, awarded Luca Arboccò the top prize on January 28, 2020, at the Jaguar BiAuto Club in Turin. Arboccò's winning work, Three Channels (Trompe l'Oeil), was selected from a shortlist of five artists including Silvia Cioni, Qipeng Deng, Fe Mitikafe, and Alice Visentin. The jury, composed of Ilaria Bonacossa (Director of Artissima), Gaspare Luigi Marcone (curator), and Davide Mazzoleni (Director of Mazzoleni gallery), praised the piece for its painterly character, chromatic decomposition of light, and suspension between two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality, opening digital and dreamlike horizons. Arboccò will be celebrated at a second event on February 11, 2020, at the Mazzoleni gallery in Turin. The project, part of a ten-stage roadshow, supports emerging contemporary art. Arboccò's series Trompe l'œil involves painting a landscape in black and white, photographing it, decomposing it into cyan, magenta, and yellow channels via computer, printing on plexiglass panels, and overlaying them, oscillating between painting and print, figuration and abstraction. The other finalists' works explore themes of technology, identity, nature, and collectivity.
