Lu Yang's 'DOKU The Illusion' Opens at Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia

From May 8 to October 4, 2026, Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia will showcase 'DOKU The Illusion,' the fourth installment of Lu Yang's DOKU cycle, as part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton's 'Hors-les-murs' program. This exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Espaces Louis Vuitton and the 10th anniversary of the 'Hors-les-murs' initiative. The installation merges AI imagery, gaming elements, live-action video, and Buddhist cosmology, creating a 'cybernetic sanctuary' featuring mirrored ceilings and a chapel inspired by the film. The DOKU avatar, based on scans of Lu Yang's face, serves as a dynamic, reincarnating entity instead of a mere self-portrait. Represented by Société Berlin, Lu Yang's work delves into identity, perception, and reality through digital art. Director Pauline Bodart highlights the consistency in Lu Yang's world-building over the past decade.
