Louvre Looks: 20 Under-40 Artists Create Video Portraits for Museum's 230th Anniversary
In celebration of 230 years since its conversion into a public museum on August 10, 1793, the Louvre in Paris has introduced Louvre Looks. This initiative features 20 contemporary artists under the age of 40, who have been commissioned to produce 3:30-minute videos showcasing their interpretations of the museum. Participants include Ivan Argote, Hicham Berrada, Mykki Blanco, and Marine Serre, representing a variety of artistic disciplines. Utilizing either film crews or mobile phones, they captured unique viewpoints of the museum. According to Louvre president-director Laurence des Cars, these videos embody both personal and universal reflections on the collections. The public debut is set for January 26 at the Festival International du Film d'Art, with additional screenings at Louvre-Lens and weekly releases on the museum's digital platforms.
