Louvre film series 'Le corps à l'écran' runs alongside 'Michel-Ange Rodin' exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-24

From April 24 to June 17, 2026, the Louvre Museum in Paris presents a film series titled 'Le corps à l'écran' in its Auditorium Michel Laclotte, curated in resonance with the exhibition 'Michel-Ange Rodin. Corps vivants.' The program features eight films that explore the human body as sculptural matter, form, and dramatic tension. The series opens on April 24 with Claire Denis's 'Beau Travail' (1999), followed by a conversation with the filmmaker. Subsequent screenings include Alain Resnais's 'L'Année dernière à Marienbad' (1961), Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Médée' (1969) starring Maria Callas, Jean Cocteau's 'La Belle et la Bête' (1946), Jacques Rivette's 'La Belle Noiseuse (Divertimento)' (1993), a cine-mix of Carl Th. Dreyer's 'La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc' (1928) by Prieur de la Marne, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 'Le Mariage de Maria Braun' (1978). A highlight is the documentary 'Rodin et Michel-Ange, le chant des statues' (2026) by Jérôme Prieur, co-produced by the Louvre, Musée Rodin, and Arte France, screening on June 5 with a discussion featuring director Jérôme Prieur and exhibition curators Marc Bormand (Louvre) and Chloé Ariot (Musée Rodin). The series ends on June 17. Pascale Raynaud, head of cinema programming at the Louvre, stated the films 'question the physical presence as matter, form, or dramatic tension' and extend the sculptors' inquiries into the body.
