Louvre Abu Dhabi celebrates fifth anniversary with new exhibitions and acquisitions

This November marks the fifth anniversary of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened its doors in 2017 following more than twelve years of planning. To celebrate, the museum is unveiling significant exhibitions and reinforcing its dedication to the concept of a universal museum. Director Manuel Rabaté emphasizes the importance of fostering dialogues rather than strict classifications. The permanent collection boasts over 600 thematic works. For the anniversary, Michelangelo Pistoletto has produced twelve new mirrors, continuing a conversation that began at the Louvre Paris in 2013. Additionally, the museum showcases pieces by Yan Pei-Ming and Jenny Holzer, while the Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2022 award exhibition is available until February 19, 2023. Ongoing exhibitions include "Impressionism: pathways to modernity" and a loan of Leonardo da Vinci's Saint John the Baptist. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is set to open in 2025.
