Louises Will's Sound Art and Photography at Fortezza Nuova in Livorno

At the Fortezza Nuova in Livorno, the Forno Project presents a solo exhibition by young artist Louises Will (born 1996 in Pisa), combining photography and sound art to explore the transformation of the Tuscan countryside under modernity. The project is curated by Sara Bernhard Poli, a young curator specializing in photography, and initiated by Galleria Fidanda. Visitors walk through a long hall marked with large circles of debris, free to alter or preserve their perfect forms, while sounds recorded by the artist in the Tuscan countryside play—sounds whose natural origin is overwhelmed by the noise of the nearby city. On the back wall, 22 photographs printed as postcards offer a panoramic view of the Tuscan and Corsican countryside, resembling snapshots from a highway journey among hills and remote gas stations. The reverse sides bear brief wishes to loved ones and meditations on landscapes polluted by human imprint. Will avoids both glossy tourist views and documentary approaches, presenting instead a sense of elusive, timeless memory, softened by chemical aging of the prints. The exhibition also references the poetry collection 'Una distanza inseparabile' (1983-1997) by Camillo Pennati, a poet dedicated to translating nature's silent language.
