Louise Nevelson's Monumental Retrospective 'Mrs. N's Palace' Opens at Centre Pompidou-Metz
The Centre Pompidou-Metz is hosting 'Mrs. N's Palace,' the most extensive retrospective of Louise Nevelson's art in Europe, which will be on display until 31 August 2026. Curated by Anne Horvath, this exhibition celebrates Nevelson's return to France fifty years after her previous exhibition there and thirty years following her death in 1988. Nevelson, who was born in Kiev in 1899 and moved to the U.S. in 1905, is known for her immersive sculptures made from repurposed materials. Notable pieces include 'Moon Garden + One' (1958), 'Sky Cathedral,' and 'Dawn's Wedding Feast' (1959). The showcase also features 'Black Majesty' (1955) and 'An American Tribute to the British People' (1960-1965), underscoring her significant influence on contemporary artists worldwide.
