Louise-Margot Décombas: Melancholy and Joy in Everyday Forms

Louise-Margot Décombas (born 1994 in Clermont-Ferrand) lives in Paris and works in Romainville. She graduated from ENSBA Lyon in 2015 and Beaux-Arts Paris in 2019. Her practice diverts banal objects with popular connotations, using reduction, enlargement, displacement, association, or fusion. Her works avoid irony or complacency, instead emitting a gentle melancholy of boredom and time to kill, alone or together. Yet there is also a vivid joy expressed through rounded forms, generous materials, and powerful colors. Recent exhibitions include "Si la lune a comme un air de fête" (2022, group show, BIENVENUE, La Cyberrance, Romainville), "Bienvenue" (2021, group show, BIENVENUE, Galerie du Crous, Paris), "13e biennale de la jeune création" (2020, La Graineterie, Houilles), and "Vue mer" (2019, solo, Collector Space Joseph Kouli, Paris).
