Louise Bourgeois Graphic Works Exhibition at BnF and Centre Pompidou in Paris 2026
In October 2026, the Centre Pompidou and the Bibliothèque nationale de France will unveil "Extrême Tension," an exhibition dedicated to the graphic works of Louise Bourgeois, marking their inaugural partnership. The exhibition will showcase more than 200 artworks, illustrating her artistic journey from the 1947 collection "He Disappeared into Complete Silence" to her later creations. Central themes include memory, body, and psychological tension, featuring motifs such as "Femme-Maison." Beginning with a self-portrait from 1942 and concluding with themes of gender and identity, the exhibition will also present the notable series "Extrême Tension" and "Turning Inwards" (2007) for the first time in France. It will be open from October 20, 2026, to February 21, 2027, at the BnF site Richelieu in Paris. Bourgeois, who passed away in 2010, was a significant figure in contemporary art.
