Louis Vuitton revives Keith Haring collaboration at Frick Collection show

exhibition · 2026-05-21

Louis Vuitton staged a lavish fashion show at Manhattan's Frick Collection, reviving a collaboration with the Keith Haring estate. The first model carried a 100-year-old Vuitton suitcase doodled by Haring in 1984, heralding a reissue of the Speedy handbag with his motifs. The show featured sculptural gowns, denim, and handbags shaped like takeaway boxes, celebrating New York's uptown-downtown duality. Designer Nicolas Ghesquière, at Louis Vuitton for 13 years, cited Haring's values of unity and liberation. Front-row guests included Zendaya, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, and Oprah Winfrey. The Frick sponsorship includes funding exhibitions, public access, and a curatorial position, plus monthly free entry rebranded as Louis Vuitton Free Fridays from next year. The show underscored Louis Vuitton's pop-culture power, contrasting elite luxury with street style.
