Louis Vuitton presents Hommage Collection Pierre Legrain at Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

Louis Vuitton's Objets Nomades presents the Hommage Collection Pierre Legrain at Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan from April 21 to 26, 2026, during Milan Design Week. The exhibition reinterprets furniture and objects originally created by Pierre Legrain between 1888 and 1929, using the maison's materials and savoir-faire. Key pieces include a re-edition of the 1921 vanity in lacquered wood and Nomade leather, the Riviera Chilienne chair in oak with leather and mother-of-pearl inlays, and an inlaid screen. The collection draws inspiration from Legrain's work, which was influenced by Cubism, African art, and radical geometries. The display also features contemporary pieces from the ongoing Objets Nomades project, initiated in 2012, including works by Raw Edges and Estudio Campana, such as the Cocoon Dichroic with its iridescent surface. An installation by students from the Accademia di Brera, inspired by Legrain's geometric patterns, is presented in the courtyard. The exhibition positions design as a continuous journey, tracing a lineage back to Louis Vuitton's 1858 flat-top trunk design and the 1896 Monogram by Georges Vuitton. It highlights a 1921 collaboration where Gaston-Louis Vuitton commissioned a red and black dressing table from Legrain, shown at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris, marking the brand's early foray into furniture. The event aligns with the 2026 Salone del Mobile theme 'A Matter of Salone', focusing on material essence.
