Loris Cecchini's participatory sculpture Waterbones unveiled in Milan's Barona district
Loris Cecchini, born in Milan in 1969, has unveiled Waterbones, a public sculpture located in Piazza delle Donne Partigiane within the Barona district of Milan. This installation, part of the Il Museo Rigenera initiative, is crafted from mirror-polished stainless steel and stems from a collaborative effort with local families and youth. The project, spearheaded by the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GNAMC) alongside the Ente del Terzo Settore Amici di Edoardo, is supported by the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea del Ministero della Cultura. On display until December 1 at the Barrio's social center, the artwork will be included in GNAMC's permanent collection. Over 600 participants, including students and volunteers, have engaged in the process, which will be showcased in future exhibitions at GNAMC in Rome and Barrio's. Renata Cristina Mazzantini, director of GNAMC, emphasized the museum's commitment to fostering contemporary creativity in marginalized areas through socially engaged art.
