Lorenzo Senni: 'Windows to look in' project bridges music and photography
Lorenzo Senni (Cesena, 1983), a multidisciplinary artist and composer, presents 'Windows to look in', an exhibition project combining music and visual arts. The project won the 12th edition of Italian Council (2023) and was created in collaboration with American photographer John Divola (Los Angeles, 1949). It has already been inaugurated at Fundação de Serralves in Porto, with events at Bourse de Commerce in Paris and MUNCH in Oslo. In September, it will be exhibited at MAXXI L'Aquila and become part of its permanent collection. The artistic process will be documented in a publication presented by Fondazione ICA Milano. The project stems from Senni's observation of how graffiti are covered in Los Angeles with precise gray rectangles, which he links to the documentary photography of Guido Guidi and John Divola. Senni, who studied under Guidi at DAMS in Bologna, describes himself as 'a photographer who survives by making music'. He has collaborated with filmmaker Yuri Ancarani, producing music for films including 'Atlantide', 'Da Vinci', 'San Siro', and 'The Challenge'. The project includes photographic prints and a musical composition.
