Lorenzo Abattoir Releases Sound Poetry Album 'Mess (Akt IV)'

Lorenzo Abattoir, a Turin-based sound artist, released his album 'Mess (Akt IV)' on May 31 via the artist-focused label Alga Marghen, founded by Emanuele Carcano. The album explores the boundary between human and animal through non-verbal vocalizations and body movement, recorded during a residency at Nub Project Space in Pistoia. Abattoir, who began in punk and black metal bands, now uses only his voice and microphones to create animalistic sounds. He cites Henri Chopin's 'La Digestion' as an influence. On December 5, he will perform at Gada space in Florence's deconsecrated church of San Francesco dei Macci, a collective performance with the audience, marking the final promotional date for the album. Abattoir identifies more as an artist than a musician, emphasizing spontaneous communication over music.
