Lorenza Boisi on Ceramics, Memory, and Artistic Autonomy
In a conversation with Irene Biolchini for Artribune, Lorenza Boisi, who was born in Milan in 1972, reflects on her ceramic artistry as a continuation of her painting and personal narrative. Drawing inspiration from urban textures in Liguria and Milan, her father's collection, and her uncle Carlo Cervieri, she resists strict classifications, identifying with Art Brut. Her self-portraits blend her life experiences with artistic expression, incorporating symbols and memories. Boisi attributes her technical independence to her education at CERCCO in Geneva, where she obtained a Diploma Avanzato di Studi Superiori (DAS). As a 'cultural agitator' at MARS and artistic director of MIDeC in Laveno, she intends to retire at fifty to concentrate on her art and acknowledges various ceramic influences.
