Lorenza Baroncelli Appointed Director of Architecture at MAXXI Rome

Effective February 1, 2023, Lorenza Baroncelli, born in 1981, has been named the director of the Architecture Department at MAXXI – Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo in Rome. This decision was reached by the board of the MAXXI Foundation, which includes president Alessandro Giuli. Baroncelli takes over from Margherita Guccione, who served until 2021 and continues as the scientific director for the Grande MAXXI expansion initiative. From 2018 to 2022, Baroncelli held the position of artistic director at Triennale Milano and has worked with prominent figures and institutions in the fields of architecture and art. The museum is currently searching for an artistic director following the end of Hou Hanru's term on December 31, 2022, with Francesco Stocchi among the top candidates.
