Long March Space Pechino: intervista sulla ripartenza post-Covid

other · 2026-04-27

Long March Space, founded by Lu Jie in 2002, is located in Beijing's 798 Art District and boasts an exhibition area of 2,500 square meters. During the pandemic, the gallery enhanced its digital tools and contemplated contemporary issues. The first exhibition after the lockdown, titled 'Mute' by Zhu Yu, opened on May 21, 2020, coinciding with the Beijing Gallery Weekend. Renovations that began in late 2019 were delayed due to the epidemic. Long March Space has been involved in art fairs such as Art Basel in Hong Kong, Basel, Miami Beach, FIAC Paris, Frieze New York, and Art 021 Shanghai. The pandemic challenged the linear nature of capitalism, prompting a reevaluation of science, visual culture, cultural capital, wealth, quality of life, and freedom. The gallery previously navigated challenges posed by SARS in 2002 and the post-Olympics financial crisis.
