London's Youngest and Richest Gallery Opens Temporary Space in Turin
Saatchi Yates, the London gallery founded by Phoebe Saatchi and Arthur Yates, is opening a temporary international space in Turin, Italy, on November 3, 2021, with an official opening on November 5, coinciding with the first day of Artissima. Located at Via Gobetti 12, 500 meters from Porta Nuova station, the 500-square-meter venue has been vacant for six years. The gallery, known for focusing on emerging and unseen talent, will present works by Jin Angdoo, Kottie Paloma, and A.R. Penck, alongside secondary market pieces. The expansion is led by Italian team members Lucrezia Pero and Stefano Amoretti, the latter a Genoa-born director who previously worked at Christie's. Saatchi Yates plans further temporary spaces in Palo Alto, California, and Shanghai, China, targeting serious Asian collectors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea, and Singapore. The gallery's London flagship on Cork Street opened in October 2020 during the pandemic and operates seven days a week, attracting about 150 visitors daily. Its philosophy, guided by Charles Saatchi as advisor, aims to break traditional gallery rules and offer a new way of looking at art.
