London's Elizabeth Line to Feature Major Public Art Installations

The Crossrail Art Foundation has launched The Culture Line, a project that will install contemporary artworks by eight international artists across eight stations of London's new Elizabeth line. Artists include Spencer Finch at Paddington, Darren Almond at Bond Street, Douglas Gordon and Richard Wright at Tottenham Court Road, Simon Periton at Farringdon, Yayoi Kusama and Conrad Shawcross at Liverpool Street, Chantal Joffe at Whitechapel, and Michal Rovner at Canary Wharf. The project is a collaboration with eight London galleries: Lisson Gallery, White Cube, Gagosian Gallery, Coles HQ, Victoria Miro, Whitechapel Gallery, and PACE Gallery. Funding comes from a fundraising campaign by the Crossrail Art Foundation and the City of London Corporation. Works are expected to begin in late 2018. A preview exhibition, Art Capital: Art for the Elizabeth line, is on view until May 6 at the Whitechapel Gallery.
