Leslie Waddington, the founder of Waddington Custot Galleries, has passed away at the age of 81. He launched one of the pioneering galleries on Cork Street in London in 1966, showcasing Colour Field and Post War American artists to British audiences while also supporting local talents such as Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, Terry Frost, and Patrick Heron. In 2011, the gallery was renamed Waddington Custot Galleries following a collaboration with French dealer Stephane Custot. Waddington's significant contributions to the art world were honored in 2013 when he was awarded the lifetime achievement award by the Federation of European Art Galleries Association.
