cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

Lombardy has become the inaugural Italian region to make its entire historical archival inventories accessible online, showcasing over 50 inventories and 30,000 pages created from 1970 to 2014. This extensive collection, located at the Marzio Tremaglia library within Palazzo Lombardia, comprises millions of documents spanning 35 linear kilometers. Established in 2018, it features archives from the 1970s and organizations such as the Youth of Italy and the Special Office for Seveso. Noteworthy items include 19th-century watercolor illustrations, an eight-meter-long map of the Naviglio Martesana, and photographs from King Vittorio Emanuele III's visit in 1925. The library offers consultations by appointment and intends to organize guided tours for schools.
