Lola López-Cózar: Fusion of Image, Sound, and Text in Grafopoemas

artist · 2026-04-24

Lola López-Cózar is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist whose work merges images, sounds, and texts into a unified aesthetic she calls 'grafopoema.' Her creative process rejects conventional rules, embracing the periphery and everyday life to produce rigorous yet empathetic art objects. Her output includes fotopoemas, videopoemas, and discursive texts. Her visual work has been exhibited internationally in Asia and the Americas, featured in academic studies, magazines, and anthologies, and shown in institutions and galleries. She has published two books: 'Notas para una melodía' (sponsored by the Ministry of Culture) and 'Canicas en los bolsillos,' and has collaborated with numerous plastic artists. Recent exhibitions include 'Next Nature' (curated by Rafael Serrano Bonilla) at Garaje Bonilla in Madrid, a solo photography show 'El tiempo no se rinde' at Fundación Botí de Artes Plásticas in Córdoba, and the fanzine 'No quiero tu silencio' by Pabellón De Inadaptados. She contributed to the poetry anthology 'Ella lo llamó gozo: una antología poética de mujeres queer' (Lastura). Upcoming projects include participation in the 30th Festival Videobardo, the oldest active videopoetry festival, starting in October in Buenos Aires and touring over 21 countries. Her website, titled 'Orden en el caos,' organizes her landscape of grafopoemas.
