Lois Weinberger and Katinka Bock Dual Exhibition at MARTa Herford

exhibition · 2026-05-20

MARTa Herford will host 'Cartographies of Growth' from February 7 to June 7, 2026, showcasing the works of Lois Weinberger (1947–2020) and Katinka Bock (born 1976). This exhibition explores themes of growth, movement, and transformation while questioning the established hierarchies between culture and nature. Weinberger's contributions include 'Das über Pflanzen ist eins mit ihnen' from documenta X (1997) and new installations like 'Portable Garden' (1996/2026) and 'Wege' (2005/2026), which highlight ecological issues. Additionally, 'Debris Field' (2010–16) presents approximately 1,000 found objects. A documentary titled 'Lois Weinberger—Ruderal Society' (2025) will also be shown. Bock's pieces, crafted from materials such as copper and bronze, include 'One of Hundred (Segments with Unknown Radius)' (2026) and 'Population Churchill' (2026). The event features film screenings, workshops, and discussions with artists.
