Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2026 Winner Jongjin Park Announced in Singapore

award · 2026-03-14

The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize marks its tenth anniversary in 2026, with the winner announced as Seoul-based ceramicist Jongjin Park, who receives €50,000. Special mentions of €5,000 each go to Graziano Visintin and Álvaro Catalán de Ocón. The prize received over 5,100 submissions from 133 countries and regions, with 30 finalists selected by a jury that for the first time includes new Loewe creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The exhibition of finalists' works opens at Singapore's National Gallery. Loewe itself turns 180 this year, tracing its origins to a Madrid workshop of artisans. The prize, established in 2014 and first awarded in 2017, aims to champion contemporary craft. This year's edition is held in Singapore, chosen for its blend of deep-rooted craft traditions and forward-looking sensibility. Last year's winner, Japanese artist Kunimasa Aoki, joined the jury. Among the 30 finalists, five highlights include: Jongjin Park's geological ceramic works using porcelain slip-coated paper; Nan Wei's lacquered leather sculptures from China; Maria Koshenkova's molten glass forms from Denmark; Misako Nakahira's orientation-free tapestry from Japan; and Jobe Burns' steel vessels from the UK, referencing Birmingham's industrial landscape.
