Lodi opens permanent archive space for environmental artist Giuliano Mauri
A new permanent exhibition space dedicated to the legacy of Giuliano Mauri, the Italian environmental artist known as the 'Poet of Nature', will open in Lodi. The archive, housed in the 17th-century Palazzo Barni's stables on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, is managed by the Associazione Giuliano Mauri, founded by his heirs. It displays over 1,000 works spanning his entire career—from militant 1960s pieces to his famous Cattedrali Vegetali—alongside a paper archive of magazines, publications, letters, theses, and prototypes. The inaugural exhibition runs from spring 2024 to December, covering all phases of his artistic life. From 2025, the 130-square-meter space will split into a permanent section with major works and a rotating section for thematic shows. The project is supported by Fondazione Comunitaria della Provincia di Lodi, Fondazione Banca Popolare di Lodi, the municipality, Fondazione Castello di Padernello, and private donors. Mayor Andrea Furegato praised the initiative, noting it enriches Lodi's cultural scene alongside existing spaces like Platea and Spazio 21.
