Lodi Festival della Fotografia Etica 2020: Photography as Healing After Pandemic

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The eleventh edition of the Festival della Fotografia Etica di Lodi will take place in October 2020, extending to five weeks. For the first time, the festival expands to Codogno, the symbolic epicenter of Italy's coronavirus outbreak, with a special exhibition on lockdown. Lodi remains the main hub. Organized by Alberto Prina and the Gruppo fotografico Progetto Immagine, the festival aims to help the Lodi area recover after months of fear. Over 17,000 tickets and 90,000 visitors were recorded in previous editions. A dedicated section, LIFE in the time of Coronavirus, features photos from an international open call promoted by Roma Fotografia, TWM Factory, IL FOTOGRAFO, and The Walkman Magazine, closing July 30. Over 4,500 photographs have been received from Europe, Canada, Brazil, India, Nepal, Pakistan, China, Iran, and more. To avoid crowds, exhibitions will be held outdoors in new spaces such as Palazzo San Cristoforo's cloister and garden, squares, parks, and Isola Carolina. Prina states photography helps people look inward and process the pandemic, emphasizing that Codogno is not different from the rest of Italy.
