Ljubljana's Summer Photography Season: Salgado's Genesis and Photonic Moments Festival

Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, hosts Sebastião Salgado's Genesis exhibition across the City Museum and Jakopič Gallery, featuring over 200 black-and-white photographs. The show, previously in Venice at Casa dei Tre Oci, includes a participatory initiative called My love letter to the Planet, inviting visitors to support ecological campaigns. Genesis opens the eighth edition of Photonic Moments, the first international contemporary photography festival in Southeast Europe, running until June 30. Other venues include Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography, Kult3000 Gallery, and the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, displaying works by Jean Cocteau, Veno Pilon, Stane Jagodič, Gabor Kerekes, Branko Lenart, and emerging photographers. The festival aligns with Ljubljana's green policies, including extensive green spaces, calibrated transport, exceptional drinking water, and a strategic waste management plan targeting 2025.
