Lizzie Carey-Thomas Named Head of Programmes at Serpentine Galleries

Lizzie Carey-Thomas has been appointed as the new head of programmes at Serpentine Galleries in London, succeeding Jochen Volz, who is preparing to curate the 32nd São Paulo Biennial in 2016. She previously dedicated 16 years to Tate Britain as the curator of contemporary British art, co-curating the Art Now series from 2002 to 2012 and managing the Turner Prize since 2002. In 2012, she put together the exhibition Migrations: Journeys into British Art, which examined the influence of migration on five centuries of British art using works from Tate's collection. Most recently, she launched Contemporary Projects with The Weight of Data, featuring artists like Eloise Hawser and Charlotte Prodger, running until October 28.
