Livorno opens call for museum director

The Municipality of Livorno has launched a public selection for a Scientific Director of its civic museums, including the Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori and the Museo della Città. The deadline for applications is midnight on June 20. The position is a fixed-term contract lasting one year, corresponding to the end of the municipal council term. Candidates must present a project of five pages outlining concrete activities. The role requires expertise in cultural management, organizational skills, research experience, and responsibilities ranging from defining cultural projects to fundraising. Antonio Bertelli, head of the Municipality's Procurement Office, emphasized the openness to candidates from diverse academic backgrounds. Francesco Belais, Livorno's culture councillor, stated that hiring a scientific director through a public call aims to increase the museums' national and international credibility and attract funding. The selection process is managed by the municipality itself, not an external headhunting firm. This opportunity follows similar vacancies at Museion in Bolzano and M9 in Mestre.
