festival-fair · 2026-04-19

The 13th edition of the Liverpool Biennial, named BEDROCK, is set to commence on 7 June 2025 and will continue until 14 September. Curated by Marie-Anne McQuay, the event showcases 30 artists across 18 different venues, featuring 22 new commissioned pieces that enhance heritage locations and public areas throughout Liverpool. The title alludes to the city's sandstone bedrock, delving into themes of identity and civic values influenced by colonial history. Notable venues include Liverpool Cathedral, Liverpool ONE, and Bluecoat, with public installations located at Mann Island and St John's Gardens. The festival, which began in 1998, is the largest contemporary art event in the UK and promotes cultural revitalization.
