Live Works Prize Returns with Residencies and €1000 Budgets

The fifth edition of Live Works, Italy's only prize dedicated exclusively to performance art, returns as part of the Drodesera performing arts festival in Trentino. All nine selected artists will receive a residency from July 10 to 20, 2017, including critical sessions, reading groups, and technical assistance, plus a production budget of €1,000 each. No jury will decide the beneficiaries; instead, a network of international professionals will mentor them. Alongside prize creators and curators Barbara Boninsegna, Simone Frangi, and Daniel Blanga Gubbay, the artists will meet Vincent Honoré, Christine Tohmé, Lorenzo Benedetti, Eva Neklyaeva, and Manuel Segade. The nine performances will open the 37th edition of the Drodesera festival on July 21, 22, and 23, 2017. Afterward, performers can benefit from an additional 10-day residency in Dro between August 1 and December 31, 2017. The prize is framed not as a one-shot award but as a real policy of curation, nourishment, and support for the performing arts. The open call is for artists of any age and geographic origin, individuals or groups, with applications accepted until March 31, 2017.
