Live Cinema Festival Returns to Rome with 14 International Artists

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The Live Cinema Festival returns to Rome's Macro museum for its fourth edition from September 21 to 24, 2017, under the artistic direction of Claudio Guerrieri. Featuring 14 artists from 8 countries, the festival presents performances, screenings, and workshops focused on innovative audio-visual art forms collectively termed 'Live Cinema.' Many works are premiering in Italy. A highlight is Austrian multimedia artist Klaus Obermaier, a pioneer in the field, who will present 'Faceless' on September 24. The piece explores the anonymization of the human face in an era of heightened surveillance, specifically referencing Trump's America, by deconstructing and recomposing Obermaier's own face in real time alongside that of the US President during his inaugural 'Make America great again' speech.
