Live Arts Week V Opens with Mårten Spångberg's Five-Hour Performance
The fifth edition of Live Arts Week, curated by Xing, will take place in Bologna from April 19 to 23, 2016. The festival opens on April 15 with the world premiere of "Natten," a new performance by Swedish choreographer Mårten Spångberg. Described as a five-hour journey into darkness, the piece involves a crew of nine people and the audience, exploring dance without a subject. The program features three highlights: "Spectacles" by Italo-Belgian choreographer Sara Manente, which investigates the limits of language in aesthetic experience by documenting audience and artist behavior; "SexGodSex" by Japanese sound artist Minoru Sato, who creates obsessive dissonances with self-invented instruments; and "iFeel3" by choreographer Marco Berrettini, inspired by Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged," inviting self-care. The festival presents a protean program of performance, dance, music, video, and installation.
