Liu Bolin Wins BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas Prize at MIA Photo Fair 2019

At the ninth edition of MIA Photo Fair in Milan, the BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas Prize was awarded to Chinese artist Liu Bolin. His piece, "Mosé, San Pietro in Vincoli" (2018), was showcased by Galleria Boxart from Verona. The award entails the acquisition of Bolin's artwork by BNL, enriching the bank's extensive collection of 5,000 pieces that encompass classical, modern, and contemporary art. Recognized as the "chameleon artist" for his ability to blend into various landscapes, Bolin was commended for his series celebrating Italy's artistic legacy, highlighting works by Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Caravaggio. He was chosen from a pool of 15 artists, which included Luca Coclite and Rania Matar, among others. BNL, the main sponsor of the fair for eight years, also featured Luigi Spina's photographic project, "L'imperfezione della Bellezza," showcasing five images of Roman statues from its collection.
