Liu Bolin Spotted in Florence for Secret Project at Uffizi and Palazzo Pitti

Liu Bolin, the Chinese artist known as the 'chameleon' for his camouflaged body paintings, has been seen in Florence for a secret project. Despite confidentiality, his presence with his team at the Galleria degli Uffizi and Palazzo Pitti has leaked. These venues are the first locations for a performative/exhibition program. The project will be presented next year, and some works will be donated to the Uffizi. Born in 1973 in Shandong province, Bolin studied under Sui Jianguo at the Central Academy of Applied Arts in Beijing. His artistic development was shaped by the government demolition of an independent artists' village where he lived, and he has faced censorship in China. He gained international recognition with the photographic series 'Hiding in the City,' exploring themes of human-environment relations, power, consumerism, memory, and progress. He has camouflaged himself at iconic sites worldwide, including the Colosseum, Arena di Verona, Pompeii, Teatro alla Scala, and the Zisa in Palermo. His works have been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Complesso del Vittoriano in Rome, the United Nations in New York, and the Fotografiska Museet in Stockholm.
