Liu Bolin's 'Hiding in Florence' Opens at Palazzo Vecchio

Liu Bolin, known for his camouflage performances where he blends into backgrounds using body painting, presents 'Hiding in Florence' at Palazzo Vecchio's Sala d'Arme from August 30 to September 18, 2023. The exhibition, promoted by Galleria Gaburro and curated by Marco Bazzini, showcases photographs from the project, part of the larger 'Hiding in Italy' series created in Milan, Venice, Verona, Rome, and Caserta. It includes behind-the-scenes footage from 2022. Bolin reinterprets landmarks like Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Galleries, the Marucelliana Library, and Palazzo Vecchio itself. The artist, born in Shandong in 1973, draws on Chinese tradition viewing humans as integral to nature, aiming to reveal the true essence of places by disappearing into them.
