Liste 2024: New Director and Top Stands at Basel Art Fair
Liste, the young art fair in Basel, has announced a change in leadership: Nikola Dietrich, a 52-year-old curator with experience at Portikus Frankfurt, Gegenwart Basel, and Kunstverein Cologne, will take over after the summer, succeeding Elise Lammer. The fair, which opens on Monday of the Swiss art week, is held in a pavilion adjacent to Art Basel. The 2024 edition features over 90 galleries in a circular layout with a central bar and bookshop. Notable stands include: Coulisse Gallery (Stockholm) presenting hand-worked metal sculptures by Matti Sumari; Noah Klink (Berlin) with a green-screen installation by Joep van Liefland exploring RGB color spectrum; Clima (Milan) showing Nicola Martini's industrial sand works transformed into solid, vitrified pieces; a gallery from Tartu, Estonia, featuring interactive works by Elīna Vītola with tent-like canvases and sugar-written letters; Longterm-Hangstad (Budapest) with Botond Keresztesi's paintings referencing religion and cyborg imagery; Valeria Cetraro (Paris) presenting Ludovic Sauvage's small paintings of edited Japanese anime within deco wooden structures; a Vienna gallery showing Martin Hotter's precarious plywood installation; Eli Kerr (Montreal) with Maggy Hamel-Metsos's metal plaques made from found objects; and Suprainfinit (Bucharest) with a theatrical presentation by Polish duo Oleg&Kaska. The fair emphasizes supporting small and medium galleries and sustainability.
