institutional · 2026-04-20

Lisson Gallery will launch its inaugural New York gallery space in May 2016, marking its fourth location globally after two in London and one in Milan. The opening exhibition features Cuban artist Carmen Herrera from May 3 to June 18. Subsequent programming includes John Akomfrah's first U.S. solo exhibition from July 1 to August 12, a new installation by Ryan Gander from September 16 to October 15, and new work by Ai Weiwei from November 5 to December 16. The 8,500-square-foot venue, situated beneath the High Line, was designed by studioMDA and Studio Christian Wassmann, with 4,500 square feet dedicated to gallery space and the remainder for offices, viewing areas, and storage. Alex Logsdail, international director and son of founder Nicholas Logsdail, will oversee the new space. Previously, the gallery maintained only an office in New York. The announcement was made on February 10, 2016.
