Lisetta Carmi's portraits on view in Milan
The exhibition 'Ritratti' at Case d'Arte in Milan presents photographs by Lisetta Carmi (Genoa, 1926), taken during her 'second life' dedicated to photography. The images, dating from the 1960s and 1970s, portray artists, musicians, and intellectuals such as Lucio Fontana and Carmelo Bene. A copy of her rare 1972 book 'I travestiti' is also on display. Visitors can listen to a recording of an interview with Carmi conducted by Pasquale Leccese in July 2017, revealing a strong friendship. Before photography, Carmi was a pianist; later she founded an ashram in Cisternino, which she considered her greatest work of art.
