Lise & Talami: The Comic Duo Behind 'Il futuro è un morbo oscuro, dottor Zurich!'

Italian comic duo Alessandro Lise and Alberto Talami discuss their collaboration, which began in the late 1990s after their fanzine Doido disbanded. They have worked together since 2001, with Lise writing and Talami drawing, though they share story ideas. Their latest book, 'Il futuro è un morbo oscuro, dottor Zurich!', published by BeccoGiallo in 2018, is a science fiction story set in a Russian steppe where a mysterious disease causes body parts to disappear. The book concludes a trilogy starting with 'L’olio blizzblog' and 'Morte ai cavalli di Bladder Town!', all featuring the recurring character Edgar J. Tuna, a fish-headed man. The duo draws inspiration from Russian literature and autobiographical elements, such as Lise's father being a surgeon. The book took fifteen years to complete, with interruptions and a loss of interest in comics, but was finished thanks to editor Alice Milani.
