Lisbon Architecture Triennale Opens with Three Main Exhibitions
The fourth edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, curated by André Tavares and Diogo Seixas Lopes, opened on October 5, 2016, and runs until December 11, 2016. The event is structured around the premise 'We need to build' and features three main exhibitions. 'The Form of Form,' curated by the late Diogo Seixas Lopes, includes a pavilion designed by architects Johnston Marklee, Office KGDVS (Kersten Geers, David Van Severen), and Nuno Brandão Costa, showcasing 12 replicated fragments of different projects at 1:1 scale. The pavilion, located at the MAAT museum, is open to the public 24/7. Inside, a drawing exhibition curated by Mariabruna Fabrizi and Fosco Lucarelli presents the Socks Studio's Atlas. 'Building Site – Architecture Under Construction,' curated by André Tavares at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, focuses on the construction process and features works including drawings and models by Cedric Price from the CCA Montreal collection. 'The World in Our Eyes,' curated by Fabrizio Gallanti and Francisca Insulza of FIG Projects at Garagem Sul – Centro Cultural de Belém, examines how cities react to architectural transformation through cartographies and urban studies. The triennale also includes numerous satellite projects across Lisbon, though some are noted as less relevant, serving as pretexts to explore the city's recent transformations.
