Lis10 Gallery Opens New Arezzo Headquarters with Dual Exhibition Focus on African Contemporary Art
Lis10 Gallery, founded in 2022 by Nicola Furini and Alberto Chiavacci, will inaugurate a new flagship space in Arezzo on September 20, 2025, after closing its previous Via Cavour location in late 2024. The gallery, which already has spaces in Paris (since 2023) and Hong Kong (since March 2025), has taken over former Teatro Petrarca premises on Piazza del Popolo 10, featuring two 100-square-meter halls with 5-meter-high exposed concrete walls, renovated over six months under designer Michele Seppia. The new Arezzo space will be the largest of the three, serving as headquarters for Italian and international operations. Director Gabriele Chianesi stated the intention was always to find a larger, more impactful space in Arezzo. The gallery maintains its focus on contemporary African art and the diaspora, with one hall dedicated to that focus and the other staging dialogues between historicized Italian artists and African artists. Two inaugural exhibitions run from September 20 to December 6: a group show titled "One for all: identity and structure" featuring works by Carla Accardi, Alighiero Boetti, Abdoulaye Konaté, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Esther Mahlangu, Giorgio De Chirico, and Mario Schifano; and a solo show by self-taught Zambian artist Jack Kabangu (b. 1996, Lusaka; lives in Copenhagen), currently in residence in Arezzo at the church of Santi Lorentino e Pergentino, presenting paintings fusing gesture, rhythm, and cultural references.
