Lino Strangis Releases Psychedelic Video for Godless Ritual Music
Lino Strangis (born 1981 in Lamezia Terme) is known for video art and multimedia installations, with notable appearances at Ars Electronica in Linz. In recent years, he has specialized in experimental electronic music improvisation paired with research videos, including 2D and 3D animation. His new album "Godless Ritual Music" was recently released on the independent label Handmade Supernova, founded in 2018 by C.A.R.M.A. (Centro d’Arti e Ricerche Multimediali Applicate) in Rome. The album consists of six instrumental tracks born from improvisation sessions using various synthesizer setups during the first COVID-19 lockdown. For the album cover and packaging design, Strangis collaborated with artist Pasquale De Sensi, multiple winner of the Best Art Vinyl Italia award. The video for "Godless Ritual Music I" features a shamanic dance performed by three anthropomorphic figures in a desacralized virtual setting, which Strangis describes as "sacred to secularity." The result is a ritualistic use of musical experience heavily influenced by psychedelia, blending tribal and traditional sounds from India and the Far East with electronic noise.
